Vindication Season One, Episode Four Recap
In this particular episode we dive into how one person in a community is different. When I say different, I mean a person who may have special needs and needs somebody to hear their story, and become friends.
When I re watched episode four for the very first time tonight, I realized the one character in this episode was looking for acceptance, a place to belong.
I want to tell you why that resonates with me. The first reason it resonates with me is because I was in that place, I was wondering if I was going to ever have a place where I truly belonged.
Then, Covid happened. When Covid happened I was able to connect with others like myself living with Hydrocephalus, I was able to connect with a friend in 2017 because of the Hydrocephalus Association and that friend and I are coming up on eight years of friendship this month.
When Covid happened, I was able to find ministries like Christian Media Spotlight run by Joseph Neal and then in 2021, I was able to find Red's Room Entertainment run by Red Stainbrook.
I'd like to think if it hadn't been for that, I wouldn't have so many amazing people who have become best friends that are a second family to me because they truly are family and the ministries and support group are home.
The second reason why I resonate with the episode but mainly the character who was misunderstood, is because when you truly are looking for people to be your friend and to accept you for who you are in the Image of Christ, it comes a long way when God places those people right in front of you.
Next it resonated with me because all people of all ages are looking to fit in, sure you have popular crowds, you have other cliques, but are all those things really important? I'd like to think it's not so important to try to fit in with popular crowds and cliques, when you have the truest of friendships with people who overtime, become family and then when you have the truest of all friends, which is Jesus.
In this episode without giving so much of it away, I realize when Venus Monique joined in for the very first time in that episode, it was wonderful to see a take of how she performed but also see a side of endurance and accountability in wanting to help and get things straightened out with a community.
I think the biggest takeaway that I could have from this episode tonight is knowing that Christ died for us and He paid the price, but the most important part of that is knowing that no matter how many times we think of ourselves as someone who can't do something or we don't feel accepted, God is here to remind us that we can do it, and that we are accepted by Him.
I want to end on this scripture tonight, because I think it goes along with what I've shared.
Colossians 4:5-6 says: Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
